32 minutes

In this episode of Over the Air: IoT, Connected Devices, & the Journey, Ryan Prosser, CEO of Very is joined by David Hulme, CEO of Satalia. They discuss artificial intelligence, its application, implications, and variations. They dive into how artificial intelligence connects with both IoT, and business success.

We discuss:

  • What is real artificial intelligence?
  • The misinterpretation of AI
  • Creating AI smarter than humans
  • Goal directed and adaptive behavior of AI
  • Data driven decision making

Even though most of what is called artificial intelligence is ludicrous, most technologies, such as chatbots, have demonstrated improvement and efficiency in removing humans from the equation. Other variations, such as machine learning, have been discovered to be decision-making process optimizations for businesses that have decision problems. In a genuine and holistic sense, David shares that AI is defined as a system that can adapt itself in production, making decisions for themselves and learning whether those actions are good or harmful based on their own understanding of the world.

The implications of this can be seen in practically every business, and with the rise of IoT, devices can gather data in real time, and AI systems can adapt that data to make better decisions than before. This approach can be used across industries to improve experiences in a variety of areas. The issue of ethical integrity and accountability also arises, in order to protect how this data is utilized and assure the best possible implementation. Finally, with the concept of digital twins, businesses may access simulations that can help them uncover growth opportunities and eliminate process inefficiencies through intelligent testing.
