As a Senior Engineer at Very, Jacob Arellano works with clients to build robust applications. Jacob enjoys trying out new technologies and working with a variety of technology stacks. He’s especially passionate about security and plays an active role in security practices and policy development.

During his time at Very, Jacob played a key role on the engineering team for Koller, a client we worked with to build the world’s first Internet-connected consumer fish tank. During the project, Jacob worked with software, hardware, and firmware to ensure a successful launch.

Before joining Very, he was a software engineer at, where he led the development of a real-time multilingual chat system and multilingual e-learning platform. His work requires familiarity with a wide range of tools and frameworks, including Ruby, Javascript, Elm, and Elixir. AWS, Relational DBs: MySQL, Postgres, and other data stores: Redis, Memcache (to name a few).

Jacob holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has worked in software development since 2010.
